Life in the UK Test centres
The Life in the UK Test is taken in person at an approved test centre. There are test centres across the UK, and you choose one when you book online.
Where can I take the test?
The test is only available at official, approved test centres located across the United Kingdom. You cannot take the test at home or online — it must be sat in person on a centre's computer under supervision.
How do I find my nearest centre?
You choose a centre during the booking process on the official gov.uk Life in the UK Test service. After you enter your postcode, the service shows the centres available to you and their next free appointment times. Availability varies, so it's worth booking early.
What to expect at the centre
- Arrive early with the correct ID and proof of address
- You take the test on a computer with on-screen instructions
- Personal items are usually stored away during the test
- You get your result as soon as you finish
Prepare before you go
Walk into the centre confident. Take our practice tests until you're scoring well above the pass mark, and read how to book so the day runs smoothly.
